Ben Dean's Live Interview with Mike Frisch (5/21/10)

Listen to Ben's live teleconference interview with Mike Frisch. This included participants from throughout the world. To stream it online, use the Online Link here. For a Download Link, click here.

You may want to begin 45 seconds into the interview (slide the vertical bar from left to right. You can see the time elapsed on the right of the horizontal bar) You can also skim through any parts of the entire interview (by, again, sliding the vertical bar from left to right).

After You Register

As soon as you register, you'll receive an email with everything you need including the class bridge number, information on how to access the webpage, the link to the first class recording and much more.

You will soon have access to the class webpage. (For the class webpage, you'll go to www.mentorcoach.com and, on the left side, click on "Positive Psychology Practice Entrance". Then you'll enter the User Name and Password, and you're in. )

On the class webpage, you will find the Welcome Letter (essential reading), Mike's power points, notes, links to articles, homework assignments, and the recordings of every class.

Also Pearson Assessments, the giant testing company that manages Mike's test, will snail mail you the testing materials you need to learn to use the Quality of Life Inventory. They are mailing this package (a $30 value we understand) at no cost to each class student.

So please look forward to being part of a wonderful, perhaps life-changing, class. The train is leaving the station. It will be a wonderful journey. We'd love for you to climb aboard.

Who Should Attend?

This course is relevant for anyone interested in applying positive psychology to their own lives and to the lives of their clients. It is an award-winning, systematic, evidence-based, research-validated approach that is both simple and powerful. It is for coaches, therapists, consultants, teachers and all others who work to improve the quality of peoples' lives.

What You Will Learn In Mike's Class:

You will learn an approach to positive psychology that Ed Diener, the world authority on happiness, says is "state-of-the-art, evidence-based, empirically validated, and an outstanding guide for all professionals interested in learning about the practice of positive psychology".

You will learn an approach to greater happiness, meaning, and joy that is validated in two NIH-grant funded randomized controlled coaching trials conducted by James R. Rodrigue and his colleagues at Beth Israel and Harvard Medical Centers in Boston.

You will learn how to refine your coaching and organizational change skills. For example, listen to Paul Lloyd:

"Quality of Life Therapy and Coaching is on the cutting edge for both the audience of current practitioners and academia. It is a compendium of quality and thoroughness. Dr. Frisch is a leader in developing training techniques, including a wide variety of experiential exercises, questionnaires, and models."

--Dr. Paul Lloyd, Executive Coach and Past-President of the American Psychological Association's Society of Consulting Psychology.

You will learn an approach to positive psychology practice that is "one-stop shopping" with everything you need in one book and with one approach.

You will learn an approach to positive psychology practice that teaches you how to practice in a simple step-by-step fashion. You'll learn everything from planning interventions to documenting your success scientifically using the evidence-based Quality of Life Inventory or QOLI®.

You will learn an approach to positive psychology practice rooted in virtue ethics that teaches an Eight-Step Model for Ethical Decision-Making.

You will learn the "Sweet 16" Recipe for Joy and Success, along with validated interventions for each of the following domains:
1. Basic Needs or Wealths: Health, Money, Goals-and-Values, Self-Esteem
2. Relationships: Love, Friends, Relatives, and Children
3. Activities: Occupations-Avocations: Play, Work and Retirement Pursuits, Helping, Learning, Creativity, and Spiritual Life.
4. Surroundings: Home, Neighborhood, Community

You will learn the versatile, "Five Paths to Happiness model", providing interventions for any problem or area of life.

You will learn a major approach to positive psychology that has been taught at the University of Pennsylvania in Martin Seligman's Masters in Applied Positive Psychology (MAPP) Program.

And you will learn an approach to coaching that addresses all three types of happiness recently identified by Daniel Kahneman and Ed Diener in their analysis of Gallup World Poll data.

CERTIFICATION

Graduates of this class will also be able to earn Certification in Quality of Life Therapy and Coaching (QOLTC) and in the use and administration of the Quality of Life Inventory (QOLI).

To qualify for QOLTC and QOLI Certification, students must meet these requirements:
(1) Attendance. Students must listen to 100% of the classes--all eight classes either real-time by teleconference or by recording after the class. To indicate attendance, students must accurately submit the two attendance codes for each class no later than one week after the final class.
(2) Fee. There is a one-time $50 administrative fee.
(3) Exam. Complete a brief, open-book quiz at the end-of-the-class with a grade of 80 per cent or more.

CONTINUING EDUCATION

Graduates of this class will be able to earn eight hours of CEUs for psychologists (APA), social workers (NASW), licensed counselors (NBCC), and Marriage and Family Therapists in California (BBS). Please note these CEUs are relevant only for licensed mental health professionals in the United States. If you are not a licensed mental health professional in the US, you do not need these CEUS and you should not pay the CEU fee.

Attendance Requirement for CEUs. Before paying for CEUs, please note the attendance requirement! You must be present--actually listening on the phone, real time--for seven of the eight classes. To document their live attendance on each call, students email in the class attendance codes (given at the start and end of the class) within 24 hours of end of Mike's lecture.

(Yes, this is a different attendance criterion than the one required for Certification in Quality of Life Therapy and Coaching described above. For Certification, you do not have to attend any class "live". You can listen to the eight classes by recording at any point up to the end of class. To document this, you email your attendance codes for the eight classes no later than a week after the class is over. You can have any combination of recordings and live attendance for the eight classes. In contrast, for CEUs, you must be present "live" during the call but you need only attend seven of the eight classes.)

International Coach Federation. There will also be 8 hours of coach continuing education credits for members of the International Coach Federation. You do not need to pay the CEU fee for coach continuing ed credits.

Certified Mentor Coach. The class will also count toward MentorCoach and ICF Certification for MentorCoach students. Again to qualify, you must be present ("live") for 7 of the 8 calls. Again, you do not need to pay the CEU fee for coach continuing ed credits.

What if I miss a class? Are the classes recorded?
Yes. Every class will be digitally recorded. The recording and all other class information will be placed on the password protected class website. We will have some students who--due to conflicts--will not be able to attend class but will stay perfectly caught up, listening to each class recording. Recently we had a Professor in Australia for whom a particular class would have been at 2 am. He developed a beautiful ritual. Each Thursday night, he would listen to that week's class from his hot tub. He loved it.
