Karen Reivich
Dr. Reivich received her psychology
training at the University of Pennsylvania under Dr. Martin Seligman, with
whom she co-authored The Optimistic Child. Dr. Reivich is a research associate
at the University of Pennsylvania’s Department of Psychology, where she
co-directs a multi-million dollar grant from the National Institute of
Mental Health to study the prevention of depression and promotion of resilience
in school children. She is also an investigator on a Department of Education
grant to teach 9th grade students how to identify their character strengths
and to use those strengths more in daily life. Along with Dr. Andrew Shatté,
Dr. Reivich co-authored The Resilience Factor that describes skills for
increasing one’s resilience and improving overall productivity and mental
health. Dr. Reivich teaches in the Department of Psychology at the University
of Pennsylvania and lectures extensively to educators, parents, and corporations
on the topics of resilience, depression-prevention, and Positive Psychology.
